Below is a map of Otematata that you can move around and explore the area on.
Otematata is a landlocked town in the Waitaki District of Otago in the middle of New Zealand's South Island. Though the town is in the waitaki district which is technically in the Otago region, the town is just north of the border between Otago and Canterbury making it apart of Canterbury not Otago. It is very much surrounded by hills, lakes and rivers. The image below this text has been taken from Benmore Damn which is at the center of the top of the map above looking south with the town in the distance to give you some bearings. If you are to travel south for 15 minutes you will come across a small town called Kurow which happens to be the birthplaceof the Greatest All Black ever to play Richie McCaw. A further 45 minutes will take you to big town of Oamaru. If you were to drive in the opposite direction you can head towards New Zealands tallest mountain Mt Cook, as well as heading towards the various towns of Central Otago such as Wanaka and Queenstown.
